How to Ride a Mechanical Bull

The big question is always how to how to ride a mechanical bull. Keep in mind that this is not advice from an expert. These are just some tricks we have learned from operating a mechanical bull and playing on the mechanical bull ride rentals.  We don't know that there is only one way to ride a mechanical bull.

Steps to Riding a Mechanical Bull

The most important steps to riding a mechanical bull:

  1.  Position yourself to ride as close to the front and head of the bull as you can and position yourself in as close to the rope as you can.
  2. Hold the rope tightly with your dominant hand so you have more control. The next thing is to grip very tightly with your inner thighs.
  3. Relax your upper body and sit forward in the saddle. Slightly bend your legs, put pressure on your knees, and get your balance well before telling the operator to start your ride.
  4. Watch the head of the bull to anticipate the next move it will make directionally.
  5. Exit graceful!
When the fall is near, you will feel that you have lost your balance and start to fall. Start at that time to swing your legs both over to one side and jump off. That is a much better exit than being flung off with no control. Once you lose your balance, you will normally not be able to recover and reposition.

How to choose a Mechanical Bull Rental

Choose a company that is state inspected and insured to do mechanical rides.  Mechanical Bulls are not all safe.  Some are built cheaply and can get you hurt.  You want bull from a reputable manufacturer with safety features such as auto stops.

The bull riding experience is not just the bull rental itself.  It is the operator as well and if they are trained to not only make it safe, but fun.  You want the whole experience with someone that knows how to keep the crowd going and make your guests feel comfortable to ride.
